It’s been one week since the gamescom 2015 Xbox Briefing, Killer Instinct Season 3 announcement, and last but certainly not least, one week since the launch of this brand-new Killer Instinct website built for you. Unfortunately, during this transition we ran into the all possible worst-case scenarios in regards to your beloved forums, and in turn it has been one week since you’ve last had access to them.
Let’s step back and take a look at this entire process from the beginning, and give you a rundown of just what has transpired in recent history.
When it was decided that we would create a new website, we wanted to provide something for you, our community, that not only delivered the news and information you so eagerly anticipate, but that also provided you with a place which felt like a home. Your home. The new www.ultra-combo.com is to serve as a new home with a familiar name you were already accustomed to, plus has been given a new coat of paint and some under-the-hood improvements.
Part of any thriving community website is active forum participation, and it was always our intention to keep the current forums to which you were all accustomed completely intact. Unfortunately, that plan has changed a bit, and we are going to be delivering you a new forum experience, built on new software, tomorrow.
During our planned “maintenance,” which plenty of you realized was a clever ruse to update our site in preparation for the incoming Season 3 announcement, we disabled the forums while we attempted to change things around. Once the website went live one thing was abundantly clear, the forums were not working.
The past week has been spent with teams from Microsoft and Iron Galaxy working together to get things back online as soon as humanly possible. Yet here we are, one week later. The good news is that the forums will be coming back online tomorrow, August 13th, and we’ll be ready to receive all your thoughts and feedback regarding Killer Instinct much like before, but with a few little changes.
There will be a couple of small tweaks, and we want to discuss those here, now, to get you prepared.
The previous forums will be accessible, but in a read only state While they will not be live tomorrow, the previous forums will be coming online in the near future. Your hard earned posts are not lost. We still have them intact, and will be building a way for you to view them, at your discretion. All new posts will be made in the new forums from here on out.
Since these are brand-new forums, ranks, unlocks and post counts will be reset This is pretty straight forward. New forums, new systems. You will be working to earn Badges based on not only your activity on the forums, but additionally from your contributions in helping our Forums grow!
You will now log in to the KI Forums with your Microsoft Account (Gamertag) The same Gamertag you use to log in to Xbox Live will become your login for these forums. While this is a bit different than what you were used to with the old forums, we felt this new solution would make it easier to identify and unify experiences in game and online.
We’re going to open the doors to these new forums, your new home, tomorrow, but we urge you to remember that they are going to be evolving over time. We need your help to get things rolling, and we’re certainly excited for you to share your thoughts and feedback about what has changed, and what you’d like to see happen in the future. Our new forum solution is jam-packed with tons of new goodies that we think you’ll appreciate. Notifications, @ replies for users, plus more, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
It goes without saying that you are our number one priority, and we deeply apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during the past week. Thankfully we’re nearly in the clear, ready to return you to your rightful Killer Instinct home.
