Have you been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the end of January much like we have? Two events. This weekend. Same city. PAX South & the KI World Cup. Things are definitely heating up down in San Antonio starting Friday. Here’s what you need to know about them both.
PAX South 2016 will take place January 29th-31st, and will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. 200 E Market St. San Antonio, TX 78205.
If you haven’t pieced it together yet, we’ll be down there showing off Killer Instinct for any and all who choose to stop by. So if you’re there, make sure to swing by the Iron Galaxy Booth, or the Astro Gaming booth to get you hands on Killer Instinct, and chat with some of the folks who help design and develop the game.

Both booths are located in Hall 1 We’ll be bringing a few swag items with us, so if you want to check your skills (or completely blow ours out of the water), make sure to drop by. Friday at PAX South will feature the KI you currently know and love, as we show off and introduce folks to the current Killer Instinct version available today.
…but what about that new Season 3 hotness? More on that in just a second.
The Killer Instinct World cup is slated to run from January 30th-31st (Sat-Sun) and will feature the best, top-level KI competitors from around the world. Fighters will compete for their chance at a $30,000 prize pool with support from both Ultra Arcade and the Killer Instinct Community Fund.
The KI World Cup will be held at The Fountain Bleu – 9800 Airport Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78216.
If you haven’t yet checked out the schedule, do so now. There are some awesome things in store. First off, we’re kicking off the tournament with a 3-hour livestream showing off a bunch of things you’ve been chomping at the bit for:
-Season 3 demo looking at one of the new characters -Season 3 rebalance
Yes, that’s right. Those rebalances that have been teased throughout the end of the expanded KI backstories will be shown in all their glory during the start of the KI World Cup. If you’re tired of being teased and frustrated with the unending speculation of what’s happening on that avenue, look forward no further than this weekend.
We’ll also have the KI Team’s very own James Goddard talking about the changes coming to Combo Assist mode based on your feedback.
Going back to PAX South for just a moment – once the info has been dropped at the KI World Cup about rebalances and our Season 3 character, we’re going to switch Xbox consoles, and allow folks to get their hands on the Season 3 build. So just to make that clear – Friday at PAX South will showcase the current version of KI. Saturday and Sunday we will show off the rebalance and Season 3 character preview. Plan accordingly!
Ok back to the KI World Cup. Ultimate Source will also be in attendance, and they’ll be bringing some sweet stuff with them, as well. More details will come on this front during the week, so keep an eye out.
